Individual Student Profile Reflection

Individual Student Profile

At the beginning of my Master's Degree in Educational Technology program at the American College of Education (ACE) I was asked to complete an Individual Student Profile assignment in which I set three goals for myself. I thought it was important to reflect upon this assignment, and whether or not I achieved the goals that I set forth for myself at the beginning of this program.

Overall, I believe that I achieved all of the goals that I set forth to some degree. As far as goal #1, I was able to introduce myself to many new technology tools that have helped increase learning, engagement, and the accessibility of learning in my classroom. I have gained a greater confidence in trying out new tools, and understand how to more thoughtfully integrate technology into my curriculum planning. In terms of goal #2, I'm not sure that I entirely achieved the goal as I set forth, but I think that I made strides in regards to providing more scaffolds and accommodation to students through understanding how to create better technology-integrated units. Throughout my time in this program, I created numerous technology-integrated lessons and unit plans, and within each of these I had to consider how to best meet the needs of diverse learners in my classroom. A great means by which to do this is utilizing UDL strategies while integrating technology, which helps ensure that the needs of all students are being met within the same lesson. Lastly, I think I was most successful in goal #3. I took on my first leadership goal at my school site, and attempted to use this role to push for better curriculum with technology infused within it.

Moving forward it is important not to grow complacent, and I need to continue advancing myself towards these goals further. I need to always be open to researching and testing new technology tools to see if I can find any new technologies that have the potential to improve student learning. I need to always consider how to best integrate scaffolds and accommodations into my technology-integrated lesson plans through the use of UDL or other strategies to ensure that I am meeting the needs of diverse learners in my classroom. Lastly, I think I need to take on an even greater leadership role at my school site, especially in regards to more focused technology leadership. Starting a technology committee, or working to develop a technology plan for my school site could be an excellent means by which to further this goal.
